"My great thought in loving is himself. If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger: I should not seem of it...Nelly, I am Heathcliff! He's always, always in my mind: not as a pleasure, anymore than I am always a pleasure to myself, but as my own being."

Monday

The Meeting.

When I first came upon the meeting of Heathcliff, I assumed like all others that he was simply a pompous butthead.
But now, I believe he may simply be a depressed, but still arrogant man.
Catherine however seems like a little brat, from what I gathered from the passages Mr. Lockwood read in the diaries in the attic room, she and Heathcliff were both brats. I do believe Hindley rightfullly forbade them to speak or see one another.
